Our summer outing this year will be to Denman College, in Oxfordshire, the WI’s centre for learning. This beautiful country house is set in lovely gardens and runs many different educational courses, for WI members and their guests. In July we will visit the college by coach, stopping en-route at a nice garden centre for lunch. Then we will have a guided tour of Denman and possibly a craft demonstration, followed by afternoon tea. A big ‘thank you’ to Andy Workman, ‘Mindset specialist’, author and motivational speaker who gave a talk entitled ‘Cavemen and Polar Bears’ at our meeting today. Andy entertained us with information and stories about the workings of the brain, about positivity, depression and what we can do to help ourselves, our friends and our colleagues, improve our mental health. On Fri 29th to Sat 31st August, the West Country Quilt and Textile Show will be taking place at the University of the West of England Exhibition Centre. This lovely show is open to everyone and may be of particular interest to our Craft Group members. Tickets can be bought online and WI members can save £4 per ticket by quoting the code QWIL. Next Tuesday afternoon, (30th), will be our April Craft Club session at the Willowbrook Centre. Do bring along something nice to work on while chatting. Yours truly may be needing a spot of advice regarding a knitting project that seems to have gone a little adrift!
